Match Reports:

The u10s are continuing their training and games for the year and had a couple of very enjoyable games v Ballyvourney on Saturday 06th April with all players on show playing very well.

The panel that competed was Ivan Rybalka, Michael Cregan, Michael Kelleher, Michael Dunne, Eoin Holland, Ultan O'Tuama, Donagh Moss, Ronan O'Sullivan, Ronan Duggan, Ben Ronan, Robie Magee, Daniel Lucey, Braden Morey,

Macroom u12 travelled to Bantry to play a West Region ‘A’ League game last Saturday evening and came away with a good win. Macroom were in control for large periods of the first half but found scores difficult to come by, mainly due to the very wet conditions. Macroom led by 8 points at the break but turned to face into a strong wind in the 2nd half. This half was an excellent team display with plenty of good defending, tackling and blocking by all 13 players. Macroom kept Bantry at bay and scored some crucial goals to maintain a lead throughout.

Panel: Noe Kollar, Regan Wong, Ryan Siju, Donagh Murray, Cian O’Sullivan, Shane McCarthy, Billy Coleman, Ruadhan McKenna, Ben McCrory, Odhran Creed, Maks Hadjuk, Charlie Magee, Kuba Gdaniec, Marcel Sobel, Tobiasz Kozdra, Jack O’Shea, Troy Murphy

Final score: Bantry 1-6, Macroom 5-4

The u14s competed in Feile on the 06th April in Ballygarvan and carried a panel of 23 players. They suffered defeats to both Courcey Rovers and Ballygarvan but had a good win over Aghinagh.

Macroom u16s had a good opening league victory v Kilmurry on Tuesday 09th April on a scoreline of 3-14 to 5-11 and had a very strong panel of 25 togged out, well done to all players and mentors involved and hopefully the good results keep coming!

The Minor footballers were due to be in action in the league last Thursday night but the game was cancelled due to a bereavement in the Canovee club and the game will be rescheduled.

Junior B's

The Macroom Junior B's opened their  Mid Cork league campaign on Friday night last in the Castle Grounds and suffered defeat to a strong Iniscarra side who's first team have yet to play championship on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-12. With a mix of youth and experience Macroom had some good performances from young players like Jack Kelleher and some good performances from our more seasoned veterans Olan Murphy and Martin O'Donnell. The selectors for this team for the year are Francis Horgan, Richard McSweeney, Danny O'Keefe, Paul Kelleher. Best of luck to everyone involved for the year ahead.

Premier Intermediates

The Premier Intermediates had a tough defeat in the opening round of the County football championship on Sunday 07th April on a scoreline pf 3-12 to 1-14, after conceding two early goals the lads fought back to  get the game even in the second half and the performance was heartening for the year ahead. The draw for the next round is on the 28th May.

Our two club refs John Ryan and David Murane have seen a lot of action between club and inter county duty over the past fortnight and continue to represent the club well along with their loyal team of umpires and linesmen, best of luck to them for the rest of the year also.

Hosting Matches

The Castle Grounds has played host to three Premier Intermediate championship games in the last fortnight and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped out to make this possible. The pitch is in superb condition and great credit must go to our grounds committee and  everyone who has been involved in getting it to its current condition.
