Sept. 4th 2017 Juvenile Update.   05/09/2017

Team of the week is the U-16 side. They have reached the league final following a fine 3-16 to 4-8 win over St Nick’s in Macroom on 28/8/2017.

Match Reports:

U-16s: They completed their league campaign on the 28th of Aug. in the Castle Grounds with a victory over St Nick’s on a score-line of 3-16 to 4-8. In doing so they have qualified for the league final with a record of 4 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. Macroom led at half time by 2-8 to 2-5, having got a goal in the first minute through Jack Riordan but conceded a goal right on half time. Macroom's other goal came in the 25th minute through Bradley O Shea. Macroom dominated the second half and a further goal by Dylan Twomey (who was outstanding throughout) in the 50th minute, put Macroom 9 points ahead. However, 2 goals by St Nick’s within a minute left just 3 points between the teams, and 5 minutes remaining. However Macroom saw the game out, adding 2 further points from frees by Dylan Twomey. A practice game the previous week against the Dohenys ended in a draw.

U-14s: They travelled to play Donoughmore for a challenge game on Thurs. and were beaten 2-7 to 0-9. Feature of the night was that 27 players travelled, with 3 more ‘legitimately’ excused. 12 changes were made at half-time and everyone got at least 30 minutes of football. Competition for places is keen. The twins Cian and Ethan Riordan played well and it was great to see some of our recently injured players back.

U-10s: On Sat. 2nd they travelled to Nemo Rangers; Team 1 won by 3 points, and Team 2 lost by 1 point in 2 very competitive games.

U-9: The U-9s put in a great performance against St. Finbarr’s on Sat. morning.

U-8s: Played in a blitz in Millstreet on Sat. morning and did very well.

Special Event:

A very good goalkeeping tutorial was conducted by Ger Lombard in the TCP on Sat. morning.

This Week:

Thurs.:  U-14s play Skibbereen in a challenge game in Macroom at 7 in TCP.

Sat.: The U-6s are planning to host Éire Óg.

Sat.: The U-16s are fixed to play Ballygarvan in championship in Cloughduv at 3.30 p.m. We wish them ‘Best of Luck’.

After that:

Sat. 16th : The Padraigh Dervin Invitational U-10 tournament will take place in the Castle Grounds.
