Cork County Senior, Premier Intermediate and Intermediate Football and Hurling Championship Formats 2019


Intermediate Football Championship (19 teams) 1.Adrigole, 2.Aghabullogue, 3.Ballinora, 4.Ballydesmond, 5.Dromtarriffe, 6.Gabriel Rangers, 7.Glanmire, 8.Glanworth, 9.Glenville, 10.Grenagh, 11.Kildorrery, 12.Kinsale, 13.Knocknagree, 14.Mayfield, 15.Millstreet, 16.Mitchelstown, 17.Rockchapel, 18.St. Finbarr's, 19.Youghal.

Preliminary Round – Two teams (one game). Winner to Round 1, loser to Round 2. Round 1 – Eighteen teams (nine games). Nine winners to Round 3, nine losers to Round 2. Round 2 –Ten teams (five games). Losers eliminated and play off to find the bottom two teams in the championship. If the Preliminary Round winner is included here there cannot be a repeat of the Preliminary Round pairing. If the Preliminary Round winner is beaten in Round 1 and 2, they are not subject to relegation, having won their opening game. Round 3 – Nine winners from Round 1 and five winners from Round 2. A total of fourteen teams. Two teams receive a bye to the quarter finals (six games). Winners to quarter-finals. Losers eliminated. Only teams that won a Round 1 fixture can get a bye in Round 3. Repeat pairings avoided where possible Quarter-finals, Semi-finals & Final.

 

Intermediate Football Draw Procedure All teams to be entered into draw. Only the Preliminary Round and Round 1 will be drawn. The first two teams to be drawn will play in the Preliminary Round. The winner of the Preliminary Round will go to Round 1, the loser to Round 2. 


Intermediate Hurling Championship (26 teams) 1.Aghabullogue, 2.Argideen Rangers, 3.Ballinhassig, 4.Ballygarvan, 5.Ballymartle, 6.Barryroe, 7.Blackrock, 8.Castlemartyr, 9.Cloughduv, 10.Douglas, 11.Dripsey, 12.Dungourney, 13.Eire Óg, 14.Glen Rovers, 15.Grenagh, 16.Kilbrittain, 17.Kildorrery, 18.Mayfield, 19.Meelin, 20.Midleton, 21.Milford, 22.Na Piarsaigh, 23.Sarsfields, 24.St. Catherine’s, 25.St Finbarr’s, 26.Tracton.

Round 1 – Twenty six teams (thirteen games). Winners to Round 3, losers to Round 2. Round 2 – Thirteen team (six games - one team receives a bye to Round 3). Losers eliminated and play off down to the bottom two teams in the championship. Round 3 – Thirteen winners from Round 1, six Winners from Round 2 and bye team from Round 2. Total of twenty teams (ten games). Losers eliminated. Repeat pairings will be avoided in this round where possible. If the team that received a bye in Round 2 loses in Round 3, they will join the losers from Round 2 to play off down to the bottom two teams in the championship. Round 4 – Ten teams (two games - six teams receive a bye to the quarter finals). Losers eliminated. Only teams that won their Round 1 fixture can get a bye in this round. Repeat pairings will be avoided in this round where possible. Quarter-finals, Semi-finals & Final.

 

Intermediate Hurling Draw Procedure; All teams to be entered into draw. Only Round 1 will be drawn.

Preliminary Round – One game. Winner to Round 1, loser to Round 2. Round 1 – Fourteen teams (seven games). Winners to Round 3, Losers to Round 2. Round 2 – Eight teams (four games). Seven losers of Round 1 and the losers of the Preliminary Round. Winners to Round 3. Losers eliminated and play off down to the bottom two teams in the championship. If the Preliminary Round winner is included here there cannot be a repeat of the Preliminary Round pairing. If the Preliminary Round winner is beaten in Round 1 and 2, they are not subject to relegation, having won their opening game. Round 3 – Eleven teams. Seven Round 1 winner plus four Round 2 winners Three games and five byes. Losers eliminated. Only teams that won their Round 1 fixture can get a bye in this round.  Quarter-finals, Semi-finals & Final.

 

Premier Intermediate Football Draw Procedure All teams to be entered into draw. Only the Preliminary Round and Round 1 will be drawn. The first two teams to be drawn will play in the Preliminary Round.  The winner of the Preliminary Round will go to Round 1, the loser to Round 2.

Losers eliminated and play off down to the bottom two teams in the championship. Round 3 – Twelve teams – Four games and 4 byes. Only teams that won their Round 1 fixture can get a bye in this round. Procedures for Senior Football Championship (Clubs) Draw All teams to be entered into draw. Only the Preliminary Round and Round 1 will be drawn. The first two teams to be drawn will play in the Preliminary Round. The winner of the Preliminary Round will go to Round 1, the loser to Round 2. The 2018 semi-finalists will be seeded in Round 3 for the knockout stage.

 

Divisional and College teams – 9 teams. Preliminary Round – Nine teams (one game). Loser eliminated. Round 1 – Eight teams (four games).  Round 2 – Four teams (two games). Winners qualify for Round 3 of the championship.

 

Draw Procedures Senior Football (Divisions and Colleges) Draw All teams will be entered into the draw. Two teams drawn. Winner to Round 1, loser eliminated. In Round 1, the first pair drawn will be (A), the second pair drawn will be (B) and so on.  In Round 2, (A) will play (B) and (C) will play (D).

Club teams – 19 teams  Preliminary Round - One Game. Winner to Round 1 and loser to Round 2. Round 1 – Eighteen teams (nine games). Winners to Round 3, losers to Round 2. Round 2 – Nine losers from Round 1 and the Preliminary Round Loser.  Ten teams (5 games). Losers eliminated and play off to find the bottom two teams in the Championship. The first two teams to be drawn will play in the Preliminary Round. The winner of the Preliminary Round will go to Round 1, the loser to Round 2. Divisional and College teams – 8 teams. Round 1 – Eight teams. Four Games. Losers eliminated Round 2 – Four teams. Two games. Winners qualify for Round 3 of Championship and join the remaining clubs. Losers eliminated.

 

Procedures for Senior Hurling Championship (Divisions and Colleges) Draw All teams will be entered into the Draw. In Round 1, the first pair drawn will be (A), the second pair drawn will be (B) and so on. In Round 2, (A) will play (B) and (C) will play (D). 

The procedures to avoid repeat pairings in all draws will be carried out in the following manner: The second team drawn shall go down to take the next available position in the draw and will play against the next drawn. If the last two teams in the Draw are a repeat pairing the following applies:  Taking the last 4 teams in the Draw as (1), (2), (3) and (4), the Draw has resulted in (1) v (2)  and (3) v (4); Alternative 1 - If (3) and (4) are a repeat pairing– the Draw is changed to read: (1) v (4) and (3) v (2) or alternatively (1) v (3) and (2) v (4). If neither alternative works the pairings will remain as first drawn.
