Cumann Lúthchleas Gael is Ireland’s leading sporting and cultural organisation with membership approaching one million people and in excess of 500,000 playing participants at all levels. Inspired by its amateur status and supported by the voluntary efforts of all its members, the GAA devotes its entire resources to the development of Gaelic Games and Culture nationally and in local communities.  

The Role 

Coiste Chontae Chorcaí CLG (Cork County GAA Committee) is now seeking a suitably qualified person with a passion for Gaelic Football to fill the role of Project Co-ordinator for the recently-published #2024 – A Five-Year Plan for Cork Football. 

The successful candidate will report to the County Executive through the County Runaí/CEO and will be responsible for implementing the recommendations of the plan and delivering on its objectives. 

Duties shall include but shall not be limited to: 

  • Responsibility for the implementation of the five-year plan for Cork football; 

  • Ensuring that the best interests of Cork football are continuously promoted; 

  • Acting as a conduit between clubs, schools and elite football teams; 

  • Contributing to the appointment of inter-county football management teams; 

  • Developing support structures for football coaches at all levels within the county; 

  • Working with other Cork GAA staff and volunteers to develop a synergised approach to how Cork football teams prepare and play;  

  • Providing support as required to inter-county football management teams; 

  • Acting as liaison between the various units and agencies that play a role in the development of Cork football; 

  • Regular reporting to the County Runaí on the progress of the plan; 

  • Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the County Runaí/CEO. 

Essential Criteria: 

  • An excellent understanding of the GAA and its structures, and in-depth interest and involvement in Gaelic Football; 

  • An understanding of the particular challenges facing Cork football at present and into the future;  

  • Experience of project management and strategic planning. 

  • A wide range of experience of Gaelic football, including playing and coaching; 

  • Established leadership and influencing skills; 

  • Strong experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels; 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); 

  • Excellent administrative and IT skills with a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook; 

  • Experience of policy development and implementation; 

  • The ability to integrate working in a professional position with providing support to volunteers; 

  • A willingness to work evenings and weekends.
