u12
Macroom u12 travelled to Bantry to play a West Region ‘A’ League game last Saturday evening and came away with a good win. Macroom were in control for large periods of the first half but found scores difficult to come by, mainly due to the very wet conditions. Macroom led by 8 points at the break but turned to face into a strong wind in the 2nd half. This half was an excellent team display with plenty of good defending, tackling and blocking by all 13 players. Macroom kept Bantry at bay and scored some crucial goals to maintain a lead throughout.

The Macroom Junior B's opened their Mid Cork league campaign on Friday night last in the Castle Grounds and suffered defeat to a strong Iniscarra side who's first team have yet to play championship on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-12. With a mix of youth and experience Macroom had some good performances from young players like Jack Kelleher and some good performances from our more seasoned veterans Olan Murphy and Martin O'Donnell. The selectors for this team for the year are Francis Horgan, Richard McSweeney, Danny O'Keefe, Paul Kelleher. Best of luck to everyone involved for the year ahead.

The Premier Intermediates had a tough defeat in the opening round of the County football championship on Sunday 07th April on a scoreline pf 3-12 to 1-14, after conceding two early goals the lads fought back to get the game even in the second half and the performance was heartening for the year ahead. The draw for the next round is on the 28th May.
Referees
Our two club refs John Ryan and David Murane have seen a lot of action between club and inter county duty over the past fortnight and continue to represent the club well along with their loyal team of umpires and linesmen, best of luck to them for the rest of the year also.
Hosting Matches
The Castle Grounds has played host to three Premier Intermediate championship games in the last fortnight and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped out to make this possible.
