u16s

The u16s played Bandon last Wednesday night and were very competitive for three quarters of the game before losing out to Bandon. It was a good test for all the players involved

The squad involved on Wednesday night was as follows:

Darragh Neville, Ben Herlihy, Sam Kelleher, Robert Coleman, Brian Healy, Robert Lucey, Darragh Kiernan, Jack Sexton, Mark Hunt, Sean Delacy, Luke Aherne, Martin Sosa, Conor Seery, Kieran Doody (Capt) , Ronan Morey, James Slattery, Michael Kelleher, Dean Granville, Gerry Kelleher, Barry Galvin, Rian Coughlan, Marcin Oleksy, Dylan Molyneaux, Liam Holland.

Junior B

Macroom enjoyed a win over Aghada in Rostellan last Saturday evening on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-9. It was a good win and a good effort by all involved. Notable mention most go to Jack Kelleher at corner back who was assisted in a strong full back line with the experienced Martin O'Donnell and James O'Connor. Macroom enjoyed considerable dominance at midfield through David Cotter and Jack Cronin. Darren Creed with a fine goal and Don Creedon pulled the strings up front. However all the limelight must go to Tom the Cat Creedon who pulled off a penalty save in the second half the likes of which has not been seen since Packie Bonnar at Italia 90!

Macroom now sit top of Group 1 of the County Junior B league and look forward to their two remaining games against Glenville and Grange.

Bag Packing:

The Juvenile players and parents must be commended for a great three days fundraising effort by bag packing in Dunnes in Macroom. A big thank you to Dunnes for hosting the club and to the people of the town and surrounding areas for their generous support of the club.

Coaching the Coaches:

A big thanks to James McCarthy the GDA who covers Macroom for doing a great session with over 20 of our juvenile players and all the underage coaches last Wednesday night. It was worthwhile and very informative and we look forward to welcoming James again in the near future.

Cork GAA Mile Challenge:

The club were delighted to welcome Kevin O'Donovan and his team to the Castle Grounds on Easter Bank Holiday Monday. Kevin is a member of the Wibbly Wobbly Wonders Running Club and is running one mile of every GAA pitch in the county of Cork. All proceeds he raises will go to the Cork Deaf Association and Parkinson's Association of Ireland. Kevin was cheered on by members of the club as he completed the mile in the green and white of Macroom. He was presented with a donation from the club by secretary John Ryan and he was extremely grateful for the clubs help. We wish Kevin all the best with the rest of his challenge.
