Macroom 2-8 Castletownbere 1-8
Macroom Premier Intermediates made it four wins from five league outings with a hard earned win over Castletownbere at Tom Creedon Park on Sunday morning. Aided by the fair wind blowing, Macroom did not play well but a 5th minute goal from play from David Horgan who bravely contested a 50/50 clash with the goalkeeper to get the vital touch, was a great boost. CTB were the better team in the first half and drew level at 1- to 0-4 but a 26th minute goal from Ethan O’Gorman who reacted best when David Horgan’s free rebounded off the crossbar, gave them a 2-2 to 0-4 interval lead.
In the second half, the Macroom play was more enterprising and with Mark Corrigan, Rory Buckley and Seán Kiely prominent in defence Macroom forced the pace and led by 2-7 to 0-5 with ten minutes remaining. Injuries now affected the Macroom play and CTB staged a mini revival but their injury-time goal was the last kick of the game.
