MACROOM GAA WEEKLY REPORT
McCarthy Insurances County Football League Div 3
Kilshannig 0-7 Macroom 1-13


Macroom were deserving winners over Kilshannig in the McCarthy Insurance Division 3 Football League at Glantane on Good Friday evening.
The home side were short some key players and lacked penetration up front, which was reflected on the scoreboard. The first half was tight but in the second, Macroom got on top and sealed the win with a late Conor O'Sullivan goal. Seán Kiely had two early points for Macroom before Kilshannig levelled at 0-2 each by the 8th minute. Alan Quinn pointed from the mark for Macroom before it levelled again. Mark Hunt converted another mark and Macroom never really looked back for the rest of the game.
Macroom were very solid in the half-back line and midfield. Points by Dylan Twomey and Alan Quinn (free) were followed with late points by Kilshannig that cut the lead to a point. In injury time, Michael Cronin, Caleb Dineen and Quinn combined well for Hunt for a fine point 0-7 to 0-5 at half time Cronin and Hunt placed Quinn for a point on the restart. Quinn had another point in the 37th minute. At the end of the third quarter Eolan O'Leary kicked a great point.
Further pressure saw Macroom add points through Hunt, Quinn and Pa Lucey as they moved 0-13 to 0-7 ahead. Conor O'Sullivan goaled as Macroom were victors by a nine-point margin.

U16 C3 League- Group 1
Macroom 5-11   Mallow  2-5


Macroom C3 team hosted Mallow for their first league game of the season in the Castle Grounds on Holy Saturday.  Macroom started well and got on the scoresheet early with points from Darragh Donovan and Jayden O Sullivan. Macroom kept up the pressure and scored a goal from Kieran Dwyer. Points from Simon Condon and Ronan Duggan pushed Macroom further ahead. Eoin Holland scored a goal from a good move out of defence to put Macroom in control.
A lapse in concentration cost Macroom a goal and a run from a Mallow player kicking for a point ended up in the Macroom net. Macroom attacked from the kick out and Ronan Duggan scored a goal from the last attack of the half. Half time score Macroom 3-6 Mallow 2-3.
Mallow scored from the throw in but Macroom took control with superb points from Eoin Holland but Thomas Hopkins got a fantastic goal coming from full back to run the length of the field linking well going forward to finish brilliantly to the net.  Tadg Dunne got a goal to seal the win with a couple of minutes to go.
