County Championship Draws

With SFC and SHC quarter-finals scheduled across the weekends of September 15th and 22nd, all quarter-finalists (apart from two in football) will be known by this Sunday night, September 1st.

Therefore, the quarter-final draws for the Senior Football and Hurling Championships will take place on next Monday evening, September 2nd at 6.30pm in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The first round draws for the Junior A Football and Hurling County Championships, the Junior B County quarter-finals will also take place.

An updated championship programme will follow immediately afterwards

SFC & SHC Seeding

In the SHC, the semi-finalists from 2018 will be seeded in the quarter-finals. As is customary, the team that eliminated a seed from the championship this year takes up their seeding. Therefore, the seeds are currently as follows, in no particular order.

(i) Imokilly or Midleton, (ii) Newtownshandrum, (iii) UCC or Bishopstown

In the SFC, the semi-finalists in 2018 will also be seeded in the quarter-finals. As is customary, the team that eliminated a seed from the championship this year takes up their seeding. Therefore, the seeds are currently as follows, in no particular order.

(i) St. Finbarr's, (ii) Duhallow

IFC & IHC Relegation Format

There are two teams to be relegated in IFC and IHC this year and the CCC have agreed the following formats. Ranking points from the last four years will be used to create seedings in both formats.

IFC

5 teams in contention for relegation

Adrigole, Youghal, Kildorrery, Mitchelstown, St. Finbarr's or Grenagh (Sept 8th)

Ranking points (2016 – 2019) in brackets:

Mitchelstown (305)

St. Finbarr's (130)

Kildorrery (90)

Youghal (40)

Adrigole (20)

Grenagh (10)

Using ranking points for seedings, if St. Finbarr's beat Grenagh then:

Round 1a; Mitchelstown v Adrigole,

Round 1 b; Kildorrery v Youghal.

Round 2; two losers of Round 1 enter a three-team group to play a Round Robin format with two matches each with the lowest ranked team, Grenagh.

Using ranking points for seedings, if Grenagh beat St. Finbarr’s then:

Round 1a; Mitchelstown v Youghal,

Round 1b; St. Finbarr’s v Kildorrery.

Round 2; two losers of Round 1 enter a three-team group to play a Round Robin format with two matches each with the lowest ranked team, Adrigole.

As we await a result from St. Finbarr’s v Grenagh, the earliest date for Round 1 will be the weekend of September 14th / 15th.

IHC

7 teams in contention for relegation

Barryroe, Milford, Kilbrittain, Na Piarsaigh, Ballinhassig, Castlemartyr, Mayfield or Kildorrery (Aug 31st)

Ranking points (2016 – 2019) in brackets:

Kildorrery (235) or Mayfield (140)

Kilbrittain (85)

Castlemartyr (65)

Na Piarsaigh (55)

Barryroe (45)

Ballinhassig (20)

Milford (15)

Using ranking points for seedings, losers of Kildorrery / Mayfield play Kilbrittain (play-off a) and the winners stay up.

Then, in a seeded play-off,

(i) Loser play-off a v Milford

(ii) Castlemartyr v Ballinhassig

(iii) Na Piarsaigh v Barryroe

Then, losers (i), (ii), and (iii) play-off in a three-team group, to play a Round Robin format with two matches each, to find two to go down.

As we await a result from Kildorrery v Mayfield, the earliest date for relegation fixtures will be the weekend of September 7th / 8th.

Premier 1 & 2 U21 Hurling Championship and U21 Football County Stages

All outstanding fixtures in the above competitions will now be fixed and included in the championship programme.

County Junior A Championships Update

The current status of Junior A Football and Hurling Championships in the divisions is shown in the table below. As before, divisional finalists will progress to the County stages, with winners and losers in separate bowls for the draw.

The football draw will have two bowls of eight and will be drawn right through to the final, with repeat pairings avoided where possible.

The hurling draw will have two bowl of seven and seven first round fixtures will be drawn. Once these fixtures are played the quarter-final draw will take place with the bye restricted to teams that won their divisional final.
